Transponder Recognition
The immobiliser must recognise an authorised electronic key before engine starting is permitted on vehicles using this security system.
Need a replacement car key programmed, a spare remote paired or help with an immobiliser key recognition problem? CarKeyLab UK provides specialist mobile car key programming assessments for compatible cars and vans.
We work with transponder keys, remote controls, selected smart keys and vehicle immobiliser systems. Based in Evesham, we cover Worcester, Pershore, Droitwich Spa, Redditch and surrounding areas by appointment.

Car key programming is the process of electronically registering or authorising a compatible key with a vehicle’s security or remote locking system.
Modern vehicle keys often contain a transponder chip, remote-control electronics or a proximity system. A mechanically cut blade may operate a door lock but still be unable to start the engine unless the vehicle recognises the electronic key.
The immobiliser must recognise an authorised electronic key before engine starting is permitted on vehicles using this security system.
Remote locking and unlocking may require separate pairing or synchronisation, depending on the vehicle and key design.
Compatible proximity and push-button-start systems may require specialised key learning and vehicle security access.
Not every key fault requires programming. Battery, wiring, receiver, immobiliser and ECU faults may produce similar symptoms and should be diagnosed appropriately.

Programming assessments for selected keyless-entry and push-button-start systems where supported.
Investigation of key-not-recognised messages, immobiliser communication issues and related vehicle electronics faults.
On many modern cars, the mechanical key blade and electronic immobiliser authorisation are separate functions. A correctly cut key may turn the ignition or unlock a door but still be rejected by the engine security system.
Depending on the vehicle, key programming may involve transponder preparation, security authorisation, remote pairing or other manufacturer-specific procedures. The availability of these functions depends on the exact vehicle and supported diagnostic access.
These symptoms do not establish that programming is the cause; proper fault assessment is important.

If you already have one working key, an additional compatible key may be programmed for your vehicle. This is useful for family vehicles, shared cars and business fleets.
Some vehicles support additional key learning through authorised diagnostic procedures, while others require more specific manufacturer access. We assess the key type, vehicle generation and available options before confirming the service.

Vehicle security systems may involve communication between the key, immobiliser, body control module, instrument cluster and engine ECU. A problem in one part of this system can prevent a valid key from being recognised.
CarKeyLab UK handles enquiries involving car key recognition faults, transponder programming, immobiliser diagnostics, ECU communication issues, vehicle security synchronisation and selected automotive electronics services. The correct repair is determined by the vehicle’s actual fault condition rather than assuming that every starting problem requires key programming.
For security-related procedures, suitable evidence of ownership or authorised access is required. Some operations may require manufacturer-specific access or dealer intervention.
We accept programming enquiries for compatible Audi, BMW, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, Škoda, Smart, Vauxhall and Volkswagen vehicles.
Typical enquiries include BMW key programming, Audi immobiliser key learning, Mercedes remote key replacement, Renault key card programming, Vauxhall transponder key programming, Volkswagen replacement key programming and van key programming. These are service enquiry categories, not a guarantee of compatibility for every model.
We confirm supported options using the vehicle make, model, year, key type and security configuration.
Tell us the vehicle make, model, year, location, key type and whether any existing key starts the engine.
We assess likely programming requirements, parts availability, vehicle security access and mobile service suitability.
After confirming ownership or authorised access, we arrange an appropriate appointment where the service is supported.

Car key programming involves electronically registering or authorising a compatible key with the vehicle’s immobiliser, remote locking or smart-key system.
Possibly, but not every aftermarket or customer-supplied key is compatible. The part number, frequency, transponder type, condition and vehicle security requirements must be checked. Some previously used keys cannot be reused.
Some compatible vehicles support all-keys-lost programming. Other vehicles require manufacturer-specific procedures or dealer access. See our All Keys Lost page.
The mechanical blade or remote locking function may work while the immobiliser does not recognise the electronic transponder. Other faults are also possible, so diagnosis is required.
Remote pairing may be possible on supported vehicles. Remote locking and immobiliser authorisation can be separate processes.
We assess selected smart and proximity key systems. Compatibility depends on the vehicle model, security generation and available authorised procedures.
Costs depend on the vehicle, key type, existing working keys, security access, programming complexity, parts and call-out distance. Request a vehicle-specific quote.
A stable electrical supply may be necessary for diagnostic and programming procedures. A flat battery does not automatically mean the key requires reprogramming.
We accept key programming enquiries for compatible vans and commercial vehicles, subject to model and security-system support.
Yes. We require suitable evidence of vehicle ownership or permission before carrying out security-related programming work.
Tell us your vehicle details, location and whether you have a working key. We will review the request and explain the available programming options.
